The ThinkPad T410 is the latest revision of the popular T-series ThinkPad from Lenovo. If you're looking for a workhorse business laptop that won’t let you down, start your search with the Lenovo ThinkPad T410. The T410 is the latest 14.1-inch member of this family and, with its Core i5 CPU and sleek new design, this machine elevates the line to new levels of performance.

Lenovo ThinkPad T410 Review

The Lenovo ThinkPad T410 features a dual-core Intel Core i5 processor and 4GB of memory, which supplies competitive application performance. Communications are handled by Intel’s 6250 AGN, along with WiMAX. The widescreen 14-inch display runs at 1280×800 or 1440 x 900.  For most users the standard T410 setup will get the job done nicely, and even if Intel’s integrated HD graphics aren’t amazing they can still handle high-def playback and Flash video well.

The Lenovo ThinkPad T410 features the strong tactile feel which made Lenovo famous, along with new, enlarged Esc and Del keys.  The ThinkPad keyboard is still comfortable to type on for hours without creating too much hand strain.

The ThinkPad T410’s 14.1-inch LED backlit screen is available in two resolutions, 1280 x 800 and 1440 x 900. The WXGA+ screen on the T410 with dedicated graphics offers good color reproduction with better than average contrast.

The Lenovo ThinkPad T410 features 4 USB ports, an ExpressCard/34 slot as well as an eSATA, a FireWire 400 port, an audio in/out port, and a Kensington lock slot, VGA, Ethernet, Display ports, a Smart Card reader, and a 5-in-1 card reader.

500GB hard drive

Dimensions (HWD): 1.2x13.4x9 inches
4.8 pounds

Lenovo ThinkPad T420 Review

The ThinkPad T420 follows the classic ThinkPad aesthetic business users have come to know and love over the years. The plastics are of good quality and don't rattle when tapped by a fingernail. You get a matte black chassis, squarish edges, metal hinges, and subtle status lights. It feels very well built and it doesn't make any unnecessary creaks or squeaks when you handle it. The laptop weighs in at 4.8lbs without the power adapter, when you add in the weight of the power adapter it’s about 5.5lbs total carry weight.

It is available in two resolutions: 720p (1366x768) and 900p (1600x900). The 230-nit, 14.1-inch matte display provided sharp images and plenty of desktop real estate thanks to its optional 1600 x 900 panel.  Viewing angles are typical for such business machines – fine horizontally but less so on the vertical. The brightness is very good, it’s more than bright enough at the highest setting to use in any type of indoor setting.  It is not bright enough to use outdoors in the sun, you need a specialized notebook to do that.  A DVD-RW burner comes standard, but there's no Blu-ray option to show off the screen to best effect.

The ThinkPad T420’s keyboard features 7 rows with a full range of keys, even rarely used ones such as scroll lock and pause. Its keys have precisely the right amount of travel to allow time for your finger muscles to realize a key is fully depressed; this is essential for fast and accurate typing.  The keyboard is very firm and no sag can be found.

The number of ports offered on the T420 is excellent. It has 4 USB 2.0 ports, VGA monitor out port, Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, DisplayPort, headphone/microphone port, ExpressCard 34mm slot, 4-in-1 media card reader, IEEE-1394 (FireWire) port and power jack.

ThinkPad Edge E420s is the new business notebook by Lenovo and this model is becoming one of the favorite notebooks of the market. It delivers a more affordable ThinkPad experience to small business users without cutting corners on reliability and looks.

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420s Specs:
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Intel Core i5 2410M (2.3GHz)
14-inch display screen
Integrated Intel HD graphics
4GB DDR3-1333 RAM (1x 4GB, supports up to 8GB - 2x 4GB)
320GB 7200RPM Seagate hard drive
Weight: 4.14 lbs.
Dimensions: 13.7 x 9.3 x 0.9~1.2 inches

 Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420s Review

The laptop comes with Intel's 2.3GHz Core i5-2410M CPU, which has pretty good integrated graphics — good enough for DVDs and web-surfing. If this setup doesn't make the laptop as powerful as a mobile workstation, it has plenty of power for most business software.  Inside the chassis spins a 320GB 7,200rpm hard drive, which provides fast read/write speeds but is otherwise par for the course. The ThinkPad Edge E420s's Intel HD Graphics 3000 chip is good enough to play back HD video and perform most business tasks. The portable package includes a DVD-RW slot loading drive and includes a fingerprint reader for security. At 4.4 pounds and 13.7 x 9.3 x 1.2-inches, the ThinkPad Edge E420s is one of the most portable 14-inch notebooks on the market.

The 14-inch display is covered with edge-to-edge glass, and the 1,366-by-768 resolution gives you the ability to watch videos in crisp 720p HD. The E420s delivers wide side-to-side viewing angles which allow you to share the screen with a coworker quite easily. The ThinkPad E420s's Intel HD Graphics 3000 chip allowed it to handle any video we threw at it with great aplomb.

The full-size keyboard is in the island style, but uses scalloped rather than square keys to give the keyboard a distinctive look and feel. Key travel is good and spacing is plentiful thanks to the island style layout. If we could make two changes we would ask for more curvature of the keys and backlighting. The keys have a pleasant size of 16x16 millimeters and fast typists will quickly get used to the key field. Although the keyboard is not backlit, the E420s has a "Think light" which shines down on the keyboard from above the display. The Edge E420s' 3.7 x 2.4-inch touchpad provides comfortable, accurate navigation around the desktop.

The ThinkPad Edge E420s has two USB ports, HDMI and a combo headset/mic jack, an Ethernet connection, eSATA/USB port, and VGA out, an SD Card reader and a slot-loading DVD drive. The laptop's Intel WiFi Link 1000 802.11n radio provided below-average transfer rates of 23.3 Mbps and 15 Mbps at distances of 15 and 50 feet from our router.

The laptop makes a great travel companion thanks to its 6+ hour battery life, ~ 4 lb. weight, and one-inch thin chassis. The keyboard offers an amazing typing experience, the battery lasts long enough to get most users through the day and the processor isn’t a slouch.

ASUS G73Jh Review

Author Admin | 9:03:00 AM

The G73 is the latest gaming laptop in ASUS’ successful G-series product line.  The G73Jh is a high-performance notebook aimed primarily at hardcore gamers. It has strong build quality and the stealth-like design is unique.

ASUS G73Jh Specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
1.6GHz Intel Core i7-720QM
8GB RAM
1TB hard drive
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 1GB GDDR5 graphics card
17.3-inch 1080p (1920x1080) display with LED backlighting
8-cell battery pack (14.8V, 5200mAh, 75Wh)

2.2x16.3x12.6 inches
7.4 pounds Weight

ASUS G73Jh Review

The ASUS G73 is has a “stealth” look, with non-traditional shape with angled surfaces and sharp lines that is clearly influenced by modern stealth aircraft. Coated in a black, rubberized material, the understated chassis just oozes power. With dimensions of 420x310x57mm, the ASUS G73Jh isn’t something you’ll want to lug around on a regular basis

The G73JH comes with a 17.3-inch LED-backlit screen with a full HD (1920x1080) resolution. It has an LED backlight and has an aspect ratio of 16:9. The objective image impression was rich colors without evident gray veiling or falsifications. Viewing angles off to the sides are pretty good, too.

The G73Jh's keyboard is, in conformity to the current trend, made in a chiclet design. The keyboard has a “Chiclet” or island-style keyboard, where the keys are raised above the keyboard surface and have more than usual spacing. The G73’s keyboard is backlit and looks good in the dark.  The large multitouch touchpad sits in a shallow well at the bottom of the deck, demarcated from the wrist rest by a slight dip from the rubberized surface.

The ASUS G73Jh comes equipped with a top-of the-range Intel i7 720QM processor running at 1.6 GHz. Furthermore, the G73Jh features a 2-megapixel camera that performed well in all lighting situations. The 2.1-speaker system performs well, getting very loud without distortion, but for having a small subwoofer, it doesn't have a great low-end. The left side of the G73Jh-A2 houses a standard array of ports, including Ethernet, 4 USB, headphone, and mic, HDMI, VGA and 8-in-1 card reader. Its battery is not very well. While surfing the Web with minimum screen brightness, we squeezed one hour and 50 minutes out of the laptop’s 8-cell battery pack.

ASUS G53SW-A1 Review

Author Admin | 7:27:00 AM

The ASUS G53SW is a powerful laptop and arguably one of the best 15-inch gaming machines currently on the market. With a quad-core Core i7 processor, Nvidia GeForce GTX460M graphics, and a full HD display, the ASUS G53SW-A1 is one serious gaming notebook.

ASUS G53SW-A1 Specs:

Windows Home Premium 64-bit Operating System

Intel i7-2630QM (2.0 GHz Quad-Core with Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz);

8GB DDR3 1333MHz, 4 SODIMM Sockets, up to 16GB;

750GB HDD (7200RPM), Super-Multi Optical Drive

Nvidia GTX 460M Graphics with 1.5GB GDDR5 VRAM

15.6-Inch FULL HD (1920x1080) LED Display

Atheros AR9002WB-1N wireless network adapter

Integrated Bluetooth wireless

Size (LWH): 15.6 inches, 11.9 inches, 2 inches

8-cell li-ion battery (14.4V, 5200mAh, 74Wh)

Weight: 8.1 lbs.

ASUS G53SW-A1 Review

The G53SW has a 15.6-inch display with LED backlighting and a proper 1080p (1920x1080) resolution. The colors popped even more we when switched to Vivid mode. Unfortunately, we noticed pixilation in some of the darker scenes in a Super 8 trailer.

The G53SW has a full-size keyboard and separate numeric keypad. Typing on the G53SW's black matte keyboard is a mixed bag. The backlit island-style keyboard provided decent feedback, but the large amount of flex to the layout is troublesome.

With faster, intelligent, multi-core technology that applies processing power where its needed most, the G53SW powered by 2nd generation Intel Core i7 mobile processor Extreme Edition delivers an incredible breakthrough in gaming performance. It also has Nvidia's GeForce GTX 460M graphics card with 1.5GB of fast GDDR5 memory, a generous 8GB of RAM, and an extremely fast 750GB 7200RPM hard drive. The G53SW's Core i7 processor and Nvidia GTX 460M graphics card produce more framerates than are required to make the game playable.

The ASUS G53SW-A1 offers a great combination of blazing-fast graphics, a gorgeous display, and rich audio. Itis a fully-featured gaminglaptop and is above average in just about every area.

The ThinkPad X201 is the newest 12-inch ultra-portable business notebook from Lenovo. This new laptop is a performance powerhouse with excellent battery life and a sturdy, compact form factor that reflects the X200. At $1,514 as configured, this machine is a good deal for demanding executives on the go.

Lenovo ThinkPad X201 Specs:
Windows 7 Professional (64-bit)
2.53GHz Intel Core i5-M540
4GB RAM
320GB hard drive
12.1 inches (1,280x800 native resolution)
 Integrated Intel GMA 4500HD

Lenovo ThinkPad X201 Review

Like many business laptops, the X201 has a 12.1in, 16:10 aspect ratio screen, rather than the more common 16:9 found on consumer laptops. Viewing angles of the matte (kudos!) display were also surprisingly good when we looked at it from all sides and flipped the screen around into slate mode. The screen is bright and crisp, though default font sizes in some apps and Web sites are a touch small on a panel this size.

Each of the new ThinkPad X201-series notebooks we have in for review offers the same keyboard that was previously seen on the X200. The chunky letter keys have the excellent tactile feel and the feedback we've grown accustomed to with ThinkPads. The keyboard is protected against fluids and thus prevents the keyboard from being damaged in the case of a spill. The caption of the keys has a strong contrast and a fat format, which allows for good recognition even the lighting is bad. Its touch pad has a slick, accurate surface and is easy to use. The X201’s touchpad had an excellent response time with no noticeable lag and each axis offered the same acceleration rate to prevent unwanted ovals.

Performance has always been a trademark of the ThinkPad X-Series. The laptop’s 2.53-GHz Core i5 540M CPU and its 7,200-rpm Hitachi hard drive allowed it to offer strong performance.  The X201 had a 2-second advantage over the Sony Z116GXS in video encoding tests, since it has the higher-clocking processor.

Lenovo ThinkPad W520 Review

With its 2.5-GHz quad-core Intel 2nd Gen Core i7-2920XM CPU, Nvidia Quadro 2000M graphics card with Optimus graphics switching, 8GB of RAM, and 500GB 7,200-rpm hard drive, the notebook offers blistering performance that should satisfy the most demanding users and businesses. With its nine-cell battery, the ThinkPad W520 lasted an amazing 9 hours and 5 minutes on the LAPTOP Battery Test, which involves continuous surfing over Wi-Fi.

The design of the notebook is very familiar, and the solid black chassis looks tough and robust. From the looks of it, the outer build of the W520 is about the same as the previous generation workstation model, the W510.  At 14.7 x 9.7 x 1.4 inches and 6.2 pounds, the ThinkPad W520 isn't the thinnest or lightest 15.6-inch laptop on the market, but, considering thelaptops' heavy duty components, it's surprisingly portable.  The Lenovo ThinkPad W520 offers an impressive, extensive span of ports, include two USB SuperSpeed 3.0, one USB 2.0, one USB 2.0/eSATA, DisplayPort out, FireWire 400, VGA, ExpressCard/34, SDHC-card reader, and a headset combo jack.

The ThinkPad W520's has a great display. It has a FHD 1920 x 1080 resolution, LED backlit, matte screen display with a color gamut of 95% and an aspect ratio of 16:9. The viewing angles are excellent and a matte finish means there's no glare or reflectivity from surrounding light sources. Viewing angles on this 1080P display are above average with colors staying true and accurate even as you tilt the screen back or move side to side.

The ThinkPad W520 features the same industry-leading keyboard design we've seen on any number of ThinkPads. . It’s very comfortable to type with and does not make a much sound. Each key has a soft matte finish, which gives a small amount of traction and reduces fingerprints compared to more glossy designs. The touchpad measures 3 inches wide by 1.8 inches tall, located slightly left of center. The ThinkPad UltraNav and Synaptics multi-touch touchpad is quite responsive and is large enough for regular usage.

The notebook has a lot to offer for the mobile road warrior including features above and beyond what's available on the T-series notebooks. The Lenovo ThinkPad W520 provides great all-over performance with its quad-core i7 processor, NVIDIA Quadro 2000M graphics, and 8GB DDR3 RAM.
