 Alienware M17x R3 Review

The M17x comes with the new quad-core Sandy Bridge 2.3-GHz Intel Core i7-2820QM processor. As you might expect for over three grand, the M17x has a a top-of-the-line graphics card: an AMD Radeon HD 6970M GPU with 2GB of DDR5 memory. The M17x R3 has an outright arsenal of ports; it includes 2x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0, HDMI in and out, DisplayPort, eSATA,  a slot-loading Blu-ray drive, a 3-in-1 memory card slot,  microphone jack, dual headphone jacks.

The M17x R3 has a 17.3-inch display with an "edge to edge" glass covering. It is equipped with a  16:9 display. The full-HD screen offers a good contrast ratio of 527:1.  Combined with the glossy screen, this provides for crisp, vivid colors. The 17-inch, 1920 x 1080p panel delivers some of the sharpest images around, whether you're watching a Blu-ray, playing games, or just surfing the Web.

The M17x R3 has a traditionally-styled keyboard. The keys are large, have a nice feel, and are very responsive. The large Synaptics touchpad is responsive and has an excellent matte non-slip surface.
