Lenovo ThinkPad E220s Review

It is the new-look Jaguar of small business notebooks, offering a sporty reinterpretation of a classic aesthetic. The durable magnesium/aluminum chassis is done up in a matte Moss Black soft-touch finish with a thin slice of polished silver trim framing the lid and base. The ThinkPad E220s weighs just 3.2 pounds but is only 0.85 inches thick, whereas the Portégé measures 1.25 inches at its thickest point

The 12.5-inch screen has a resolution of 1,366x768, which allows it to display high-definition content at 720p. This appears to be the same 12.5-inch panel used on the Lenovo IdeaPad U260 with a 16:9 aspect ratio and LED backlighting. The screen provided sharp, bright images, though colors seemed a bit dull. More importantly, the panel does a fine job of displaying small text cleanly.

As with the X1, the Edge E220s is outfitted with a Chiclet-style keyboard that is roomy and comfortable. This new keyboard has a fantastic feel with excellent key travel and each key has a slightly concave surface to help improve typing accuracy.  The chiclet layout will give you countless hours of typing without any fatigue. The E220s has the traditional TrackPoint pointing stick in the center of the keyboard with three buttons below the spacebar.

The notebook has a modest selection of ports including standard VGA, Ethernet, HDMI v1.4, two USB 2.0 ports, a USB 2.0/eSATA combo port and a memory card reader. The E220s has a speaker bar below the screen that holds two very small speakers.  The webcam and microphone were clearly designed for the business users.

The Lenovo ThinkPad E220s offers all of the excellent business features that are synonymous with the ThinkPad brand, and does so with style. The Lenovo ThinkPad E220s, is a great mid range on the go machine.
