Lenovo B470 Review
The Lenovo B470 features an all-black matte plastic design with textured horizontal lines on its display lid. Ports are good and plenty, including 4 USB 2.0 ports (one of which is an eSATA/ USB combo drive), VGA, Ethernet, HDMI, 6-in-1 card reader, audio ports, and optical dirve (Blu-ray option). The ports the selection lacks is a SuperSpeed 3.0 slot and ExpressCard.
The Lenovo B470 has a 14.0-inch glossy display with a 720p (1366x768) resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The screen has a 1366 by 768 resolution for 720p HD viewing, but not True 1080p HD—unless you hook it up to your HDTV via the HDMI port. It is glossy, something which will not be very appreciated by the businessmen. Viewing angles are not the best but since B470 is not being targeted as a multimedia laptop, we are not complaining.
The keyboard is in the chiclet style, but has Lenovo's own added twist with the keys having a slightly concave design. Keys are smooth and round off at the bottom. The typing experience is pleasant with a great feel due to the smoothness of keys.
The notebook is powered by the second generation Core i5 2410M sandy bridge processor. Lenovo B470 scored 5895 in the PCmark Vantage benchmark test, which is good enough for a student or a business laptop. We were able to get close to 6.5 hours of battery life with brightness was set to 50 percent in our Wi-Fi web browsing test. The "Essential" B470 notebook is a decent purchase if you're in need of a laptop for your office or school work.
